Ultra-efficient in-core acoustic waves in suspended core fiber for high frequency fiber-optic ultrasonic devices

نویسندگان

چکیده

High frequency acoustic waves confined inside a suspended core fiber (SCF) are revealed by numerical simulations for the first time. A standard single mode optical (SMF) is modelled to explain current research limitations. The response and energy concentrated in both fibers evaluated from 50 56 MHz with 3D finite element method. simulated dispersion curves compared Pochhammer–Chree solutions. SCF at resonance of 52.84 approximately 16 times higher SMF, indicating new route design fabrication fiber-based ultrasonic devices.

Low-cost high-performance fiber-optic pH sensor based on thin-core fiber modal interferometer.

A new fiber-optic pH sensor based on a thin-core fiber modal interferometer with electrostatic self-assembled nanocoating is presented. After inserting a segment of thin-core fiber into a standard single-mode fiber, high-order cladding modes are excited and interfere with the core mode to form an in-fiber modal interferometer. The side surface of the sensor is then deposited with poly(allylamin...

Fiber Optic Interferometric Devices

Fiber optic interferometry can be broadly explained as the techniques that utilize the fundamental principles of optical interference to measure physical sample properties or detect changes via sensing systems that are partially or completely realized using fiber optic components. While the field of optical interference dates back to second half of seventeenth century, the advent of fiber optic...

Tunable acoustic gratings in solid-core photonic bandgap fiber.

We investigate acousto-optic long period grating resonances in a fluid-filled solid-core photonic bandgap fiber (PBGF). The acoustic grating design enables electrically tunable notches in each of the PBGF transmission bands, where both the center frequency and depth of the resonances can be varied. The measured intermodal beat length and resonance bandwidth are in good agreement with numerical ...

A fiber optic sensor for measuring glucose in aqueous solutions

In this paper, the set-up of a multi-mode fiber optic sensor for measuring glucose in aqueous solutions is investigated and evaluated. The basis of this sensor is based on the Fresnel Reflection. In this setup, a helium-neon laser is used as a light source, a fiber optic probe, photocell as detector and a digital multimeter. The statistical analysis of the recorded data shows a highly linear be...

Novel Fiber Optic Sensor Based on In-line Core-cladding Intermodal Interferometer and Photonic Crystal Fiber

− We propose a simple all-fiber structure based on intermodal interference between a core and a cladding mode of an endlessly single-mode photonic crystal fiber section sandwiched between a lead-in and lead-out SMF-28 fiber. The sensitivities to strain, pressure and temperature are measured. The interferometer is compared to an interferometer based on LP01-LP02 SMF-28 fiber and to a PCF-based t...
